100 Days of Self-Care (Week 9: Day 57-63)

Moving Meditation

Week 9

This week we will explore using movement as a form of meditation by exploring Sun Salutations.  Sun Salutations are a sequence of poses used to build heat in the body. Each movement is coordinated with your breath: Inhale as you extend, and exhale as you contract, or bend.

The goal for the week is to build up the number of Sun Salutations. The idea is by performing the same movements over and over you can enter a meditative state.  We have included a rest day for this challenge where instead of flowing through a sun salutation we suggest practicing japas meditation. Japas meditation is where you repeat a mantra 108 times. It is often paired with malas, a meditation necklace that has 108 beads.

  • Day 1: 5 Sun Salutations
  • Day 2: 10 Sun Salutations
  • Day 3: 15 Sun Salutations
  • Day 4: 20 Sun Salutations
  • Day 5: Rest/Japas Meditation
  • Day 6: 25 Sun Salutations
  • Day 7: 30 Sun Salutations
