I learned early on that having a skin care protocol is critical to keeping our skin nice and clear; outside of what you eat and drink. Your daily routine should include a cleanser, toner or astringent, and moisturizer. On a weekly basis but not daily you should include a mask and scrub. The mask being applied once a week and the scrub 2-3x at week at night. You want to scrub at night to slough of the dead skins built up from the day. Which allow for new skin cells to come to the surface during your beauty rest (night repair). This is also why you do not want to scrub in the morning because you will be scrubbing away new skin cells.
I love mask. I also like making them with products I have at home. Activated Charcoal is part of my holistic living practice . It has several benefits which include

- Relieve digestive issues, gas, and bloating
- Antidote for drugs, chemicals and poisons
Below is my DIY Activated Charcoal mask. It is a great way to leave your face feeling fresh and clean.
•1 tsp Activated charcoal powder
•1 tsp Rosewater or plain water
•1 tsp Aloe Vera gel
• A couple drops of tea tree oil (optional)
Mix everything together in equal measure, except for the tea tree oil, which should be used very sparingly(1-3 drops). Paint it on your face and let it dry completely before rinsing off with warm water.
The charcoal works best for drawing out impurities from your pores, so it wouldn’t hurt to steam up beforehand. Get your pores nice and open.
