Rejuvenating Body Scrub

Rejuvenating D.I.Y.  Body Scrub
At my core I am doer. In that I like the process of making something. It becomes a moving meditation. I also like creating different things because I will not have to question what are ingredients are being used. As a result, I end up making a lot of the beauty products I use on my skin. It ends up being very cost efficient and more eco-friendly. There are some things I no longer have the time to make, because my schedule will not allow it, but I can not justify not making a body scrub. I mean at any given time I will have nuts and bolts for a great body scrub. Not to mention the significant difference in cost to make your own as opposed to purchasing it the store.
Body scrubs are a great way to keep your skin smooth and soft. I love how my skin feels and looks after a nice exfoliating session. The beauty of body scrubs is its simplicity. All you really need is two ingredients: Sugar or salt and a oil.
The key difference between a salt and sugar is you get the extra benefits of mineral content in salt scrub. However, if you have sensitive skin or intend to use the scrub after your shaving routine a sugar scrub would be a better alternative.
Essential oils allow you to spice things up with your scrub. You can cater a scrub to your specific needs by adding the right essential oil. This scrub is specifically for you body and should not be used on the delicate skin of your face and neck. The scrub can be stored in jar for  up to one month.
Sugar scrub
  • 1/2 cup fine sugar or sea salt
  • 2-4 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon essential oil (optional)

Add salt or sugar to a mixing bowl. Begin adding the oil, and keep adding until reach a consistency you like. Add your essential oil last.

How to Use

Wet the area of your body you intend to scrub, then apply a small scoop of scrub into the palm of your hand. Rub the scrub onto your skin in slow circles until it crumbles completely away.
