5 Mushroom Recipes for your Overall Wellness

 

 

Mushrooms have been used all over the world as food and medicine. Advances in science have allowed studies to uncover how mushrooms offer amazing benefits to our health.  Mushrooms like lions mane support our brain health. Whereas, reishi acts as an adaptogen and supports our immune system Mushrooms can be an excellent source of dietary fiber, vitamin d, antioxidants, and digestive enzymes. 


I  have tried mushrooms from a variety of sources, some were better than others. A few years ago discovered Om Mushroom a few years ago at Expo East.  Om Mushroom has an organic line of mushroom products that include individual mushrooms as well as their personalized blends. One of my favorite blends that I have used for a few years now is the Beauty Blend


I am excited about a current partnership with Om Mushrooms. For the past few weeks I have been using their products to make recipes and as part of my self-care protocol. Below are a few recipes I have made using a few of their products.  This month I am doing a 30-day challenge where I am using the following every day (except energy) paired with yoga and fitness protocol:


Om Maitake:  It is known for weight management and blood sugar support. 


 

Om Fit: It is known to support with training, energy, and performance. 

 

 

Om Energy: It is great for pre-workout & recovery. 

Om Restore: It great supports, detoxification, immune health, and recovery.


 

 

 



Shiitake Mushroom Miso Soup


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces  hot water
  • 1 packet of Om Mighty Veggie Miso Broth
  • 1 cup of shiitake mushroom
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tbsp ginger, minced
  • ¼ cup onions
  • 1 tbsp olive oil 
  • Sprouts
  • Green onions
  • Ume Plum Vinegar, to taste 

Directions


In a pan heat oil on medium heat. Add onions, garlic, ginger, and mushrooms. Sauté for 4-6 minutes, constantly stirring. Turn off the heat and season with Ume plum vinegar. Put to the side. In a bowl add hot water then pour Om Mighty Veggie Miso Broth. Stir well. Pour sautéed vegetables into the broth. Garnish with sprouts and green onions and enjoy. 



Smoked Mushroom Hummus


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces  hot water
  • 1 packet of @ommushrooms Mighty Veggie Miso Broth
  • 2 cups chickpeas, cooked
  • 1-2 tbsp tahini
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1.5 tsp salt or to taste

Directions


In a bowl add hot water then pour Om Mighty Veggie Miso Broth. Put to the side. In the blender add 1 cup of miso brother and remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth. Add more broth as needed. Add salt to taste. Pour into bowl serve with pita chips, olives, and artichoke hearts. 

 Get Fit Smoothie Bowl


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe frozen bananas
  • 1-2 cups spinach
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 2 tsp @ommushrooms Fit
  • 1 tbsp sea moss (optional)


Directions

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into a bowl. Garnish with superfoods.


 Refresh Watermelon Drink

 

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cup watermelon, chunks
  • 1 package @ommushrooms Energy+
  • Juice of one lemon or lime
  • 5-7 mint leaves 

 

Directions

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour in a glass and enjoy

Pineapple Breeze


Ingredients

  • ½ ripe plantain or 1 ripe banana
  • 13.5 ounces of coconut milk
  • 2 cups pineapple
  • ½ tsp ginger (optional)
  • 2 tsp @ommushrooms Beauty
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • Agave or liquid sweetener of your choice to taste

Directions

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into a mold (I found mine at Walmart) of your choice. 
  • Once frozen, simply run molds quickly under hot water to help release from molds and enjoy immediately.



Green Machine


Ingredients

  • ½ ripe plantain + 1 ripe banana or 2 ripe banana
  • 1 ripe Hass avocado
  • 13.5 ounces of coconut milk
  • 1-2 tbsp of mint leaves
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 2 tsp @ommushrooms Beauty
  • 1 tsp spirulina (optional)
  • 1 ts vanilla extract (optional)
  • Agave or liquid sweetener of your choice to taste 


Directions

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into a mold of your choice. 
  • Once frozen, simply run molds quickly under hot water to help release from molds and enjoy immediately.
