Welcome to Jaspora 🌀
Growing up, I used to flinch when someone called me Jaspora.
In Haiti, Jaspora, a Haitian take on the word diasporan is often used to describe people like me: children born or raised abroad by Haitian parents.
And for a long time, I’d say: “No, I’m Haitian.”
Because I am.
But with time, I’ve come to wear Jaspora as a badge not of in-betweenness, but of expansion.
It perfectly names who I am: Haitian in blood, raised in America, shaped by both and living on the hyphen.
This series is a reflection of that.
A kitchen where tradition and transformation live side by side.
A place where I honor my roots and remix them through the lens of how I eat now — vegan, creative, and globally inspired.
For this first episode, I’m starting with pikliz pancakes — a twist on a classic that’s as bold and unexpected as the series itsel
